It has been awhile since I have posted. Spring is here and several things are going on in our lives. Here are some of the things that have happened.
The potatoes I planted last fall/early winter survived. So I added another board in height to the box and added more soil to cover the potatoes. Also, my son's school sent home cabbage so I planted those in a smaller box next to the potatoes.
The blackberry plants started flowering in early April. The picture above was taken April 3. This was the Prime Ark Freedom that flowered earlier than our Natchez variety that is blooming now.
Our peach tree started blooming in March. This was March 24. It is loaded with small peaches now.
Our strawberries started producing on April 10. The picture if from that day. We are getting over a quart a day now of strawberries. We enjoyed strawberry shortcake tonight. They are amazing.
Mostly I have been working like crazy and helping coach baseball. I did buy another Brightwell blueberry bush in March that I planted. Today we bought a Climax blueberry, Premier blueberry, Meekers raspberry, and a Blaze Prince Peach tree. Also, we went to the HHS FFA Greenhouse sale and bought 9 Tomatoes (Cherokee Purple, Mortgage Lifter, Pink Girl, Super Sweet Cherry, and Sun Sugar Cherry) as well as 9 Jalapeno peppers. They also had a flat of unknown plants that were not marked that they gave away to us. There were 3 tomato plants and the rest were peppers.
