In honor of all that goes with National Signing Day, below is a list of the seed varieties we will be purchasing for this year.
Our first signee was from Johnny's. I decided we needed to try some pole beans so I bought some Garden of Eden pole beans. These are a Ramano type pole bean. Ramano type are our favorites.
From Baker Creek we are going to purchase the following:
Double Yield Cucumber
Australian Butter Squash
Indian Prince Calendula
Court Jester Marigold
Alaska Red Shades Nasturtium
Giants of California Zinnia
Most of these are flowers. Some are going to be cut flowers for my wife Kacy. Others are for pest deterrence like the marigolds. And some are natural wormers for the chickens like the nasturtium.
Some mid-year enrollees include Long Island Cheese Squash and Country Gentleman Corn that were given to me by my parents.
Our returning starters include Harlows Homestead Okra, Lemon Queen Sunflower, Ramano Bush Beans, Sugar Snap Peas, Nero di Toscano Kale, Romaine Lettuce, Fordhook Bush Lima, Pinkeye Purplehull Crowder Pea, Bloomsdale Spinach, Southern Blackeye Cowpea, Crimson Sweet Watermelon, and some tomato seeds I might start.
This will be the majority of what I will try. I will buy my tomatoes and peppers at the Hendersonville High School FFA Greenhouse sale in April.
I hope there are a few 5 stars in the mix or at least a few diamond in the rough 3 stars that do better than I expect. I also hope Ole Miss gets their 5 star offensive lineman to switch back to them as well.
